Posted on 7th April 2020There are hundreds of different makes and models of Tables available on the market and it can be a jungle to find the right one!
With this in-mind, we have written this quick guide to help you narrow down your search and make the right purchase first time…
Not all Table Tennis Tables are alike. It can be confusing to decide which table is right and often tempting to go for a lower budget table and hope for the best. Unfortunately, many of the lower price tables have incredibly thin mdf surfaces with terrible playing properties – often this surface tends to bow and the thin covering of paint tends to chip and mark easily. To make the lower price point, manufacturers often take short cuts with quality of the metal undercarriage that can easily buckle and wheels that can break, stick and mark floors. We’ve all seen the you’ve been framed videos where the table collapses!
In general, it pays to stretch your budget if you can to get a table that will last you years not months – at Bribar we only stock ‘tried and tested’ quality tables from Table Tennis Specialists TIBHAR and JOOLA. Having been in the Table Tennis business for over 40 years we have sold many tables and in the following sections we outline our top picks for you.
The difference between outdoor and indoor tables lies mainly with outdoor tables having thin metal and wood combined surfaces, treated frames and bigger wheels for rolling on grass.
In good quality outdoor tables they are manufactured to be weatherproof for short periods of time however we would not recommend leaving them out for long periods ie over winter even with a table cover.
The choice here is more about where you store the table. If you store your table in a dry and warm place and use in dry weather then either table will work. Outdoor tables are a better option if you plan to use and move your table outside often and it is kept in a shed or garage for instance.
We recommend the following Outdoor Table Tennis Tables for most situations:
TIBHAR: TIBHAR 1700 W or TIBHAR 4000 W
JOOLA: JOOLA Outdoor Rally TL Table Tennis Table

Buying a quality net and post set is a good idea – not only will it perform well (not sag or damage table when attached) but will last much longer – especially if the table is not kept up permenantly. We recommend the following net post sets for most occasions:
1. Any flat surface: TIBHAR Pull-out Flex Net
2. Social/Home: JOOLA Snapper Net
3. Club/League: JOOLA Pro tour WM and TIBHAR Smash Net & Post Set
4. Competition: JOOLA WM Ultra Net & Post Set

Our latest Blog is from Paul Drinkhall. We love Paul’s honest take on his performances and he always gives us a real insight into what it’s like playing at the highest level. Paul talks us through his Tokyo 2020 experience from keeping fit and motivated, training hard and getting match sharp, through to finding form and using all his experience to proceed in the event…
It’s always a bittersweet experience when you compete at an event of the magnitude of the Olympic Games and perform well but without a huge amount to show for it – some Athletes are happy to qualify of course, but for me you go to an event to try to win, whoever else is in the event and whoever you run into.
For me this event was different to the last two Olympic Games I participated in, purely because up until a week or so before the event I didn’t know if I’d be playing. I only just missed out on an automatic world ranking qualification place, and then was one match away from qualifying at the qualification event, which was a huge disappointment at the time. That said, I knew I was first reserve for the competition, and with injuries or even worse COVID maybe likely to occur in some athletes, I knew I had to be physically ready to seize the opportunity should it arise! In the end, my good friend and TIBHAR fellow sponsored player Vladi Samsonov was struggling with a shoulder injury that has plagued him for some time; he had announced his retirement due to this, which for me is truly the end of an era, he’s an absolutely amazing player and a great guy also. This meant that I very quickly got the call to play, and after getting the nod from Team GB and Table Tennis England I was about to compete in my third consecutive Olympic Games.
In terms of preparation, I quite simply kept in mind that there was going to be a good chance I may be called up. This kept me extremely motivated in my practice, my physical work outs, and my mental preparation also. I worked on my speed and explosive fitness, I ran every morning, and stretched everyday also. One thing that experience has taught me is that it’s important to switch off and relax also even when preparing, and my two children Dougie and Bonnie certainly have no problem in distracting me and helping me to switch off!
We were aware that due to COVID, this Olympic Games was going to look and feel very different to London 2012 or Rio 2016. Health and Safety and Social Distancing was paramount of course, we tested every day, and all the necessary precautions had to be taken; I wouldn’t say that it spoiled the experience as such, but it was very different and we knew straight away that this wouldn’t have quite the same atmosphere as previous games, mainly due to the lack of spectators allowed into the arena.
After a couple of days in the holding camp we were transferred into the Olympic Village, which again felt very different to previous games. It’s such an honour and privilege to be a part of Team GB though, and that feeling was still strong in the camp despite the obvious limitations. Our preparation was good; we had some quality practice sessions together and some multi-ball with team coach Gavin Evans, mainly working on speed and ‘sharpening up’ exercises, just trying to find our rhythm, hit the ball well and concentrate on playing enough but not too much to be in peak shape for the event.
Paul knocking with Liam Pitchford in the main hall.
I felt good in the practice sessions. In multi-ball I was sharp, I felt quick, my timing felt great and I was certainly glad I’d kept preparing for the games even though I knew there was a chance I wouldn’t play. One day I felt I was hitting the ball a little flatter than usual with less spin, so I worked on that with Gavin in multi-ball practice, but generally speaking I could tell I had a chance of finding some good form, which again comes with experience of playing in major events for many years.
My first match was against Nima Alamian, the Iranian. He’s a little under ranked at 125, having been hovering around the top 50 just a couple of years back; he has a really nice game, he’s a good athlete, and if he’s hitting the ball well he can be a real threat. I wasn’t too displeased with the draw, but I knew he couldn’t be taken lightly, that’s for sure.
The game was entertaining to say the least! Within the first couple of points, he was foul served by the umpires on his reverse service, which totally threw him off his game. The Olympics are always a little stricter when it comes to the service laws, but it’s the lack of consistency that I think is the real problem. A player can serve in a particular manner all season, and then only be pulled or faulted in one match on one given day or even just by one umpire – it doesn’t help the players at all, and it certainly didn’t help his concentration.
He was faulted for throwing the ball backwards, which does actually help get more spin when doing a reverse serve, but I don’t think that was his reason, it’s just his normal action. I’ve learned over the years that in these situations you must step back and just remain focussed, let the player and the umpire have their disagreement, and simply concentrate on the next points to come. I felt I was playing well, and in the points that followed I was able to block out all the distractions and just concentrate on hitting the little white ball – always a good idea!
At the end of one game he was nine-one down and faulted and lost a point again, things became farcical at that point – I was still walking back to the table and he did a nothing serve, the umpire gave him the point… it’s worth watching what happened next, lets just say I nearly had to duck!
He did mount a come back and started to push me, but I stuck to my tactics, found his middle time and time again and felt like I was hitting the ball well; ultimately in the rallies I was too strong and consistent, so I was able to close the match out over a potentially very dangerous opponent four games to one, and move into the last 64.
Paul takes on Robert Gardos world no 24
My next opponent was the Austrian, Robert Gardos, world ranked at 24. He’s got a wealth of experience and like Timo seems to be getting better with age; he’s an unorthodox player, very consistent, awkward, and not the type of guy you want to run into not playing well. He’s the type of guy who doesn’t have many bad losses, and you really need to work hard to beat him – he’s actually a player I’ve never enjoyed playing against, and I’ve not beaten him before, but I wasn’t thinking too much about that as I know that if I’m on form I can match up with him and beat him for speed and power.
I snatched the first end and then lost the second, but to be totally honest I felt in control throughout. I was moving well, his service wasn’t causing me any problems, and I felt very focussed and confident. I easily won the third, scraped through the fourth at deuce and found top form in the fifth end, closing the match out 11-6. He’s not an easy opponent and this was certainly different to my first match against Nima, but in the match when I knew I was playing well I didn’t feel like I could lose as I had one of those games where everything seemed to be going my way. If only you could bottle that….!
My opponent in the last 32 was the South Korean Jang Woojin. World ranked at 12, he’s a quality player, he has a great attacking game and he’s a match for the very best, so I knew this wouldn’t be easy. The last time we met a couple of seasons ago I had lost deuce in 7th after a massive match where I felt we both played well, so I knew what to expect and I think after seeing my match against Gardos he would know I was playing confidently.
I started well and won the first game 11-7, and although it’s easy to say with hindsight, I think I should have won the 2nd end too after being 5-1 up. It’s an example of how at this level, you have to be 100% focussed without taking your foot off the gas for even a second. He won the 2nd at deuce, and without doing too much wrong I lost the next three games 8, 8 and 7. I feel I was playing at a high level, the Koreans physically are always ready and you only have to look at their Olympic record over the years to know how they try to peak for the games; I think maybe I have one more gear in my game than I displayed in that match but I can’t complain about my form, ultimately I’ve lost to a world class player after having my chance to go 2-0 up.
Pitch was unfortunate to exit at the last 32 stage too, he came up against a very dangerous player and the man in form in Darko Jorgic, who’s young and hungry and has all the attributes to be a top world class player for many years to come. He’s powerful, has great hands and a strong game, and I think coming into the singles event cold and running into a player like him who already had a 7 game match win under his belt against my old team mate Alvaro Robles from Spain is difficult. I felt Pitch never really ‘got going’ and lost over 6 close games – Jorgic showed what form he was in by beating Harimoto in the last 16, but Liam was still disappointed.
Overall, it’s always disappointing to lose, but when you feel you have found form and given a good account of yourself, it’s at least a little better than feeling that you’ve not been able to display your best against the top players the world has to offer. With the new ranking system being the way it is, there isn’t much reward for my efforts, as despite reaching the last 32 and beating a top 25 world ranked player I haven’t moved up in the world rankings at all – but maybe Ma Long should feel more hard done by, as despite winning the Olympic Gold for the 2nd time in his career and beating the world number one in the final, he remains at number 2!

Posted on 19th October 2020Welcome to our JOOLA blade blog for 20/21 featuring the latest tech found in the new VYZARYZ, SANTORU & XYLO models:
Harness the power of the JOOLA Santoru 3K-C for your offensive game! This powerful 3+2 ply blade utilizes a solid Kiri core with soft Hinoki outer veneers to create a unique playing feel. In between is our 3K-C, a state-of-the-art Carbon fiber weave, which creates an enlarged sweet spot and adds extreme speed. While fast, the bigger sweet spot provides a shocking level of control. This hard-hitting blade with direct responsiveness has a lower trajectory and is perfect for close-to-the-table play and for putting pressure on opponents. Be prepared to hit your game-winning shots with the torpedo-like speed of the JOOLA Santoru 3K-C! 3K-C CARBON FIBER WEAVE Every strand of fiber in this 3K-C weave is made up of 3,000 individual Carbon filaments. The 3K-C significantly reduces vibrations to create an enlarged sweet spot and produce a flat ball trajectory. Truly an offensive weapon in all aspects, this fiber’s most notable characteristic is its hard, direct touch. 5+2 PLY POWER PLAY COMPOSITION made of Hinoki – Carbon – Kiri – Carbon – Hinoki
The power you want and the touch you need is what you’ll get with the JOOLA Santoru KL-C Outer! This 5+2 ply blade features soft Limba outer veneers that sit directly on top of Kevlar-Carbon (KL-C). Paired together with a strong Kiri core, the JOOLA Santoru KL-C Outer provides uncomparable levels of speed, control, and accuracy that’s well-suited for the modern topspin player. Never miss your shots with the laser-like precision of the JOOLA Santoru KL-C Outer! KEVLAR-CARBON OUTER LAYER Best known for its use in bulletproof body armour, lightweight Kevlar is able to soften hard blows. It is this characteristic that when woven with Carbon, helps to create a medium-hard stroke with shocking levels of control. Outer Layer design emphasises the characteristics of the KL-C composite material by utilising it directly beneath the blade’s outer veneers. The resulting enlarged sweet spot provides a more direct touch, a flatter ball trajectory and a higher speed value. 5+2 PLY DYNAMIC TOUCH COMPOSITION made of Limba – KL-C – Ayous – Kiri – Ayous – KL-C – Limba LIMBA OUTER VENEERS A soft and durable wood, the LIMBA outer veneers perfectly complement the AL-C to provide the ultimate touch for your spin needs.
Be in control of your every move with the JOOLA Santoru KL-C Inner! This 5+2 ply blade features high-quality Hinoki outer veneers that create a nice soft touch in the short game, and extraordinary speed when hitting. The main draw of this spin-oriented blade is the Kevlar-Carbon (KL-C) fiber weave in the inner construction. It creates better feeling while giving you the ability to be even more precise during topspin play. In-between these 2 veneers is Koto, added to further optimise ball control for looping and countering. You’ll never have to sacrifice speed for control with the JOOLA Santoru KL-C Inner! KEVLAR-CARBON INNER LAYER When lightweight Kevlar is woven together with Carbon to create the Kevlar Carbon (KL-C) used in the JOOLA Santoru KL-C Inner, it gives the blade a larger sweet spot while softening up the hard touch of the Carbon. This creates an unprecedented level of control for a blade of this speed. Inner Layer design intentionally utilises the composite material as inner layers on top of the core instead of directly beneath the outer veneer. This maintains the blade’s stiffness while providing a softer touch and more control. 5+2 PLY POWER & PRECISION COMPOSITION made of Hinoki – Koto – KL-C – Ayous – KL-C – Koto – Hinoki KOTO OUTER VENEERS A soft topspin wood, the KOTO outer veneers round off the blade by providing a crisper feel for direct and powerful shots.
The JOOLA Xylo 5 is an innovative all woodblade designed for the top player! This 5-ply blade consists of a Kiri core with Ayous inner layers, which provide the perfect amount of control and feedback. What makes this blade special is its “toasted” Hinoki outer veneer. A special heating technique ensures the Hinoki has a higher stiffness for speed, and an overall balance and consistency for the whole blade. If you’re looking for control, precision, and an all-natural feel, the JOOLA Xylo 5 is the perfect choice for you!
HINOKI OUTER VENEERS HINOKI, a highly sought-after premium Japanese wood, is often recognised by its rich, straight grain. This wood is characteristically soft with a bit of bounce and creates a one-of-a-kind touch that increases dwell-time for extra spin and control. In the JOOLA Xylo 5, the HINOKI veneers were “toasted” using an innovative heating technique to increase the blade’s speed by enhancing the wood’s stiffness. AYOUS INNER LAYER Native to Africa, AYOUS perfectly offsets the weight of the Hinoki outer veneers with its lightness and has great strength-to-weight ratio. Due to the wood’s naturally larger pores, it maintains elastic characteristics that make it ideal for close-to-the-table play. KIRI CORE Durable and hard, yet still lightweight, KIRI is utilised as the core veneer and is the key to maintaining the blade’s overall balance. This stiffer wood reduces vibration and is great for taking those direct shots.

We caught up with Chris Main at North Ayrshire Table Tennis Club and find out how the drastically shortened 19/20 season was actually very successful on the table, how the clubs members are doing during the lockdown and what they are planning once community clubs can re-open.
Tell us a bit about the club…
‘North Ayrshire Table Tennis Club is based in Saltcoats, North Ayrshire on the west coast of Scotland. We were founded in 2002 and have been one of the sporting success stories within their local area. We have over 150 members and a wide range of classes on 5 days per week. Players range from 7 year olds who are just starting the game to senior Scottish internationals. Our club is based out of our 16 table venue where we have our club sessions, league matches and 1-1 coaching.’
How was the season going?
‘The 2019-2020 season was a shorter than usual but successful one for the club, with a great generation of players playing at the top of the game in Scotland and representing the club at Scottish National League and British League. We currently have 3 teams in British League, 1 team in British Premier League and 2 teams in Division C. Results at this year’s National Championships were the best NATTC have ever had, with players in at least the semi-finals of every event except from 3 events. Stand out result was from 17 year old Martin Johnson winning Junior Boys Singles, Men’s Doubles, Junior Doubles and reaching the semi-finals of Men’s Singles!’
There must be a lot of hard work by club members?
‘More than 6700 volunteer hours were delivered by our club coaches, committee and volunteers. We had over 1000 players of all ages and abilities attend sessions ran by NATTC. Over 50 of NATTC’s TT tables are in schools and facilities across North Ayrshire. The club gained 10 new qualified coaches and 8 of our players represented Scotland or Team GB at international events.’
How are you keeping moral and communication going with members?
‘We have been doing some on-line activities including video meetings, planning some HIIT sessions plus there’s a club quiz planned for a week or so ahead – there’s also some service and trick shot competitions in the pipeline.’
A silly question… but how has the lockdown affected the clubs plans?
‘As expected, another busy year for us has somewhat been cut short with COVID-19 and in result, postponing our two major fundraising events, North Ayrshire Open and NATTC Golf Day. North Ayrshire Open which is our Scottish ranking tournament was scheduled to be late March, and our Golf Fund-raising day mid-April. Those two events are our two biggest fundraising events so we are hoping to reschedule them for a suitable date next season.
How are the clubs players and members keeping active?
‘Our players have been keeping fit by going out for jogs, skipping and following online fitness videos from their house. Bribar sponsored players Martin Johnson, Jamie Johnson, Chris Main, Holly McNamara & Ryan Henry all have a table tennis table/robot in their house or garage, so they have been using that as best they can for various exercises and service practise.
Holly McNamara was involved in the Table Tennis Scotland online video Q&A with Don and Jill Parker MBE, asking them their thoughts on table tennis and training methods.
So far during the lockdown, our club historian Graeme Stevenston, is currently writing up the History of NATTC as the club heads towards its 20th year since it was founded. This will be a great and detailed piece of work looking at how our club has gone from a 1 table venue in a Scout Hut to a club which is on 5 days per week and classes all over North Ayrshire. We have asked all members, past and present to help Graeme out by sending any results, newspaper cuttings and info from their time playing or training at the club.’
What plans does the club have for when we are back playing again?
‘During the lockdown we have more time than ever to plan for the future and get our club as organised as possible for when our Table Tennis gets the go-ahead to open back up again.
At the club we have an incredible group of junior players who are involved in the National squad, so we want to give them as much support and opportunities as we can to succeed further.
We have a great grassroots set up with satellite clubs in North Ayrshire and local schools, our aim to improve on this and get more adults, juniors involved in our club training, attending competitions and playing in regional leagues.
Throughout the UK and especially in Scotland, Women’s TT isn’t as popular as the Men’s side of the game. At NATTC, we have 3 girls that have represented Scotland in the past year, Holly McNamara, Jess Hogg and Naomi Provan. We hope to build on the girl’s game over the next couple of years and generate more interest in schools and our club.
Is there anyone you’d like to give a shout out to?
During this season, we were very fortunate and thankful that we have support from our major partners and sponsors of the club. We send our thanks to North Ayrshire Ventures Trust, Bribar Table Tennis, Freshii, Joe Perry (Extra Access Scaffolding), Stanley Morrison Trust & Sporting Chance Foundation. This enables us to train with the equipment we need, maintain the weekly programme/classes we have and also reach out and open up Table Tennis to schools and other areas in North Ayrshire not previously supported.
If you would like to know more about North Ayrshire Table Tennis Club please visit their website and follow them on social media – Facebook and Twitter.
Posted on 14th May 2020At Bribar Table Tennis we are proud to have entered a partnership with the British Army Table Tennis Association for 2020 onwards. In these extraordinary times, the Army and our other forces will be doing a great deal to help us as a nation – thank you.
A few weeks back we asked the British Army TTA to let us know a little more about their history and organisation, the rivalry in the forces and their plans for the future…
Our Table Tennis History
Ping-pong or Table Tennis as we know it today, developed as an after-dinner pastime in England in the late 19th Century and a form of the game was also being played as long ago as the early 1880’s by British Army officers in India and South Africa. These officers are said to have used cigar box lid as paddles, rounded wine-bottles as balls and books as a makeshift net.
Early names for the sport were many and varied and included ‘gossima’, ‘whiff-wharf’ and ‘ping pong’. Whatever you call it, the sport has become increasingly popular within the Army, and in April 2016, the Army Men’s team became the Inter-Services Champions for the first time in 33 years, victory was even sweeter, as they defeated the RAF, who had been Inter-Services Champions for three decades.
This result was impressive, but even more so with the Ladies’ team winning their competition as well. This meant the Army finally achieved the ‘double’ making it a year to remember!
Our Table Tennis future
The highlight after that historic win in 2016 was the Army Ladies’ team securing a convincing 10-0 win against the RAF (Royal Air Force) to become the 2019 Inter-Services Champions. The Army Men’s team proved their team’s depth is improving all the time in spite of losing to the RAF with a respectable score line of 6-4.
Today, Army Table Tennis is going from strength to strength with numbers increasing each year especially female participation. At the last Army Table Tennis event we had 70 entries which is a record high compared to several years ago when the Army Table Tennis Association (ATTA) had around 35 entries. Positive stats.
With new players getting involved each year we are giving our Sport the best chance of finding top new talent. At the last Championships we found a new star, who plays National League Division 1 Level and is now the new Army Men’s Singles Champion. He will now play alongside our other relatively new star player (and former Welsh International) as the Army Team’s new top 2 players.
British Army Table Tennis welcomes absolute beginners to the very top players. Table Tennis is a fantastic sport where you can meet new people and have fun. We also offer top of the range coaching sessions for all players. Part of our professional coaching team is Alison Broe (Gordon), former England International Table Tennis player and for this year’s Championships we had guest coach Ryan Jenkins, Welsh National Coach. ATTA along with the players hope it is not a one-off visit!
It is a privilege and honour to have them both part of our set up as well as our new Sponsors Bribar Table Tennis.

Posted on 16th April 2020In our latest blog we asked Jack to give us a bit of background on himself, a feel for his Nationals success and what he’s looking forward to…
‘My name is Jack Hunter-Spivey, I’m current world number 8, currently English and British champion, a Rio 2016 Paralympian and I haven’t lost a competitive match in Great Britain for 6 years!
I’m originally from Liverpool but now living and training as a full time athlete in Sheffield training at the English Institute of Sport. I compete in Para Class 5 and I have an attacking playing style, and much of my success has been due to my tactical awareness and mental strength when under pressure.
Like many kids I started playing Table Tennis in a youth club at the age of 10, I enjoyed the sport but when I heard that London had won the bid for the Olympics and Paralympics, I knew then that I had to be a Paralympian.
I joined Halton Table Tennis club and started on my journey of trying to become a Paralympian Table Tennis player. And I’m so proud to say that I managed to achieve my dream when I competed in the Paralympic Games at Rio in 2016.
In my professional Table Tennis career I have been lucky to travel the world and to win quite a few medals and titles – there’s a great article on the British Para Table Tennis website that has some more background on me and some of my achievements.
English Senior National Championships 2020
This years National Championships was my first competition of 2020, I was really looking forward to competing again and to see if my hard work in training would pay off.
Going into the first few group matches, it took me a while to get back into my stride and to competing at the level I know I can play. My opponents are improving all the time and are pushing me all the way, so I was really happy to progress to the final after having some tough matches on the Saturday.
Heading into the final, I was excited to compete on the one table format and in front of a crowd. My opponent was Dan Bullen who I have played many times previously so we know each others game well. I actually beat Dan 3-2 in the group stages the day before, but I was a bit nervous going into the final, I knew Dan was playing really well and it was going to be a tough match.
I felt in the final that although I didn’t play my best level, I started to feel more comfortable as each set went by and I was able to use my experience at crucial points to edge over the line under pressure – even though Dan played really well.
Retaining my National title means the world to me, to say I’m National Champion is something I am really proud to say and it’s something I will never take for granted.
My main goal now is to get myself qualified for the Paralympic Games in Tokyo 2021 and to hopefully bring home a medal!
I would like to say thank you to my friends and family for supporting me in following my dreams, Halton Table Tennis for starting me off on this journey and continuing to support me and to the GB Para Table Tennis team and staff for allowing me to training and compete at the highest level.’

Posted on 2nd April 2020Can Liam Pitchford make it 6 Singles Titles or will Paul Drinkhall stretch out to 7 Singles Titles this year? The draw has been made and there’s some talented young players looking to create an upset!
Both Liam and Paul have been in good form recently, Liam looked very strong at the World Tour Hungarian Open losing in the Semi-final to Japan’s Yukiya Uda, whilst Paul had a good run at the Portuguese Open bowing out in the quarter-finals.
Although they will be battling it out to make the Singles Final, Paul and Liam will also be teaming up again and looking to secure their 7th National Doubles Title.
The National Championships will be streamed live from Nottingham on the Table Tennis England Facebook Page on Friday 28th and Saturday 29th, then on Sunday the Finals day will be shown on the BBC Sport website from 9.30am.
To get in the swing for the Nationals we are offering a Special Price of £37.99 on VICTAS V>15 Extra (as used by Liam) and TIBHAR Evolution MX-P (as used by Paul).
This offer is available until 9am on Monday 2nd March 2020.
Bribar player Liam Pitchford uses VICTAS rubbers/blade and Bribar Player Paul Drinkhall uses TIBHAR rubbers/blade – you can also read up on Liam and Paul’s Biogs on our Sponsored Players page.
Posted on 27th February 2020In conjunction with Gewo we are able to offer the new Gewo Ultra SL 3* latest generation seamless ball at an unbelievable promo price. To celebrate the balls selection for the 20th World Veterans Championships in Bordeaux this year we have negotiated special prices that will run until the event in June 2020.
If you’re playing in the World Veterans Championship here’s your chance to train beforehand with the selected ball, or if you’re simply a serious player and want to use top quality reliable seamless balls at an unbelievable price why not grab this opportunity.
Posted on 23rd December 2019We are very lucky to support some fantastic clubs around the country and the enormous work and effort many of them put into Table Tennis is quite amazing – here we catch up with Bishop Auckland TTC’s Chairman, Matthew Porter.
With the new season now firmly underway things at Bishop Auckland have had a slightly different focus – on top of the schools, community and performance sessions covering over 40 hours each week, the club has been working even harder behind the scenes than normal.
The club have not only become a registered charity but have been making fast progress on a new purpose-built facility!
The facility project really only became a realistic proposal in May this year and will see a fully accessible 18 practice table hall built at the home of the club, Bishop Barrington School.
The new building will see 18 grade 4 courts for practice, along with a large social area, community cafe, toilets, changing facilities and a community room.
The full-time center will allow the club to continue to develop its sessions for the community opening opportunities for more people to access table tennis, while developing young players by being able to combine its coaching sessions, something not possible in our current hall.
The club has already raised over half of the budgeted £250,000 needed with a guesstimate completion date of Summer 2020. The club is appealing for public donations and we are searching for businesses that may be interested in sponsoring the club or buying advertising in the new hall, all to help raise the rest of the funds.
You can find details of how to donate, our sponsorship packages and a 3D walkthrough video of the new facility on our website page.
The new season has also seen the club develop new sessions and new coaches. Thanks to funding the club has started running ‘Bat and Chat’ sessions to complement our over 50’s section along with day-time disability sessions and family sessions on a Saturday morning.
We’ve also secured funding from our nearby Big Local Partnership where we were able to run a bespoke Level 1 course which saw 6 club volunteers become qualified coaches.
From a playing point of view our 2 Senior British league sides have had a mixed start to the season with our A team getting promoted last year and our B team consisting mainly of juniors – it’s a tough challenge!
Junior British League is always a highlight of the year and with both our boys and girls sides sat in 5th place there’s plenty to play for at the next weekend.
National Junior League saw our 2 teams placed 3rd and 4th – again with lots to play for with the competition format. National Cadet league saw us enter two sides with 7 new young players who haven’t played in the event before – the new players included two 8 years old who came desperately close to winning matches only to lose them in the 5th set.
In general our club players have has a solid start and at a top level they have kept their places in England Squads and Para GB squads while others have continued to improve on their national rankings…
Bring on an exciting 2020!

Posted on 20th November 2019Welcome to our NEW BLADE section for 21/22 featuring the latest tech from JOOLA including the VYZARYZ, SANTORU & XYLO models:
3K-C CARBON FIBER WEAVE
Every strand of fiber in this 3K-C weave is made up of 3,000 individual Carbon filaments.
KEVLAR-CARBON OUTER LAYER
Best known for its use in bulletproof body armour, lightweight Kevlar is able to soften hard blows.
5+2 PLY DYNAMIC TOUCH COMPOSITION made of Limba – KL-C – Ayous – Kiri – Ayous – KL-C – Limba
LIMBA OUTER VENEERS
A soft and durable wood, the LIMBA outer veneers perfectly complement the AL-C to provide the ultimate touch for your spin needs.
KEVLAR-CARBON INNER LAYER
When lightweight Kevlar is woven together with Carbon to create the Kevlar Carbon (KL-C) used in the JOOLA Santoru KL-C Inner, it gives the blade a larger sweet spot while softening up the hard touch of the Carbon. This creates an unprecedented level of control for a blade of this speed.
Inner Layer design intentionally utilises the composite material as inner layers on top of the core instead of directly beneath the outer veneer. This maintains the blade’s stiffness while providing a softer touch and more control.
5+2 PLY POWER & PRECISION COMPOSITION made of Hinoki – Koto – KL-C – Ayous – KL-C – Koto – Hinoki
KOTO OUTER VENEERS
A soft topspin wood, the KOTO outer veneers round off the blade by providing a crisper feel for direct and powerful shots.
HINOKI OUTER VENEERS
HINOKI, a highly sought-after premium Japanese wood, is often recognised by its rich, straight grain.
AYOUS INNER LAYER
Native to Africa, AYOUS perfectly offsets the weight of the Hinoki outer veneers with its lightness and has great strength-to-weight ratio. Due to the wood’s naturally larger pores, it maintains elastic characteristics that make it ideal for close-to-the-table play.
KIRI CORE
Durable and hard, yet still lightweight, KIRI is utilised as the core veneer and is the key to maintaining the blade’s overall balance. This stiffer wood reduces vibration and is great for taking those direct shots.
