Over the 17th, 18th and 19th February 2017, Top Edge and Gertsen TT delivered their second training camp of the season at the Dorset Table Tennis Centre in Christchurch.
Following on from their recent Horsham camp, Dorset proved to be very popular again, with 50 people attending over the 3 days. The camp brought together players from 15 different counties and a couple of Welsh legends too!
Dorset Training Camp in full flow:
The coaching team was headed up by two UKCC Level 4 coaches, Stephen Gertsen and Craig Bryant, currently there are only six UKCC Level 4 coaches in the UK – so to have two on the same course provided extra knowledge and experience.
The players attending the camp had a wide variety of ability levels and the coaching team made sure that all levels, ages and abilities were planned for and received attention. The Dorset camp proved to be a really enjoyable experience for all involved and there was an amazing atmosphere throughout! With the player’s ages ranging between 8-77 years old, regardless of age, everyone bonded and worked extremely hard to improve their games.
The coaching team were impressed with the positive attitude of the players and everyone embraced the challenges and standards set by the coaching team. Here’s one of the multi-ball sessions in action:
The camp was lucky to have some great coach/player support in the form of Table Tennis legend, Carl Prean, (former world no.18) Simon Heaps (former European Champion), Alison Broe (two time Olympian), Hannah Hicks (England International) and Kris Piwowar (Professional Coach) – a BIG thank you to these guys – who without them the camp would not have been possible!
Craig Bryant said ‘Thanks to Bribar Table Tennis for promoting and supporting the camp from start to finish. Also thanks to Table Tennis England, Table Tennis Daily and many more for helping us reach out far and wide! Top Edge and Gertsen are looking forward to more camps in the future and we are already planning the next dates!’
